Suburban Declaration

Growing up in Norton all my life, I have settled into and seen suburban lifestyle. Instead of trying to grasp something only abstractly for my concept, I wanted to dive into something with multiple sides. I plan on addressing the conformity of suburbia now and in the 1950s as well as the 1920s. I also plan on addressing family roles, common themes, and the negative side of suburban lifestyle using art, photography, and literature.

  1. Mike I like your concept, and think you will do really well with it.

  3. I was thinking- consider Tim Burton's depiction of suburbia in "Edward Scissorhands" or the film "Pleasantville".

  4. Thankyou! And that would be a great help to me. I don't think I could find anything on the Aztecs, or at least anything that I could write about. I love your concept as well, it's interesting to see the conformity of suburbia and the 50s, and people's own perceptions of it. There's a song that's about the "little boxes" if you didn't already know about it, I don't know if you'd be interested in adding it to your concept-folio though.
